Arsene Wenger has branded Robin van Persie an "exceptional goalscorer" after Arsenal's 3-0 win against Bolton Wanderers this afternoon.
The Gunners captain scored twice, providing his 99th and 100th goals for the club across all competitions. His efforts laid the foundations for the win before Alex Song chipped in with a last-minute goal.
"Van Persie is an exceptional goalscorer," manager Wenger said after the match. "He is an untypical centre-forward, he is not what you call the typical striker, position-wise.
"The crowd knows that he is an exceptional player. The crowd knows as well that he has a real love of the club and has Arsenal in his heart, and they appreciate that, especially after the times we have gone through."
Today's victory gives Arsenal a total of seven points, placing them in 12th place in the table. Their next match will be against Olympiakos on Wednesday (September 28) in the Champions League.
