Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger: 'Jack Wilshere to return next week'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reveals that midfielder Jack Wilshere "needs one more game" before returning to the Gunners' first team.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that midfielder Jack Wilshere could return to first-team action next week.

The England international has been sidelined for over a year following a number of setbacks from an ankle injury.

Reports had claimed that the 20-year-old was ready to feature for the Gunners in this weekend's Premier League clash against Norwich City, but the French boss has indicated that the playmaker needs more time.

"He needs one more game, maybe Monday night for the [Under-21s], then he will be back," said Wenger.

Wilshere played in an Under-21 game against Chelsea behind closed doors on Wednesday.
