Preview: Arsenal vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Premier League clash between Arsenal and Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal welcome Liverpool to the Emirates on Wednesday, with both teams struggling for consistency in the Premier League this season.

Both teams did score five times in their last league fixtures, however. The Gunners thumped West Ham United 5-1 last week in north London, but Liverpool were also equally impressive as they scored five goals against Norwich City on January 19.

A largely disappointing season has left Arsene Wenger's side in sixth position in the table, four points behind Tottenham Hotspur, who currently sit in fourth. Liverpool have recovered from early troubles, meanwhile, and would move level on points with Arsenal should they pick up the win.

The reverse fixture earlier in the season ended in a 2-0 win for the Gunners, but Liverpool were victorious the last time they travelled to Arsenal in the league, a 2-0 success in August 2011.

Arsenal could have Mikel Arteta available after injury, but it is unlikely that the Spaniard will return before the weekend, therefore allowing Aaron Ramsey to continue in a three-man midfield alongside Jack Wilshere and Santi Cazorla.

Liverpool have a fitness worry over Jose Reina, but the Spaniard is expected to return in place of Brad Jones. The match has come too soon for Jose Enrique, however, with the left-back still struggling with a muscular injury.

Recent form:

Arsenal: LWLWW
Liverpool: WWLWL

Possible lineups:

Arsenal: Szczesny; Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Gibbs; Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla; Walcott, Giroud, Podolski

Liverpool: Reina; Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Wisdom; Downing, Henderson, Allen, Gerrard; Sturridge, Suarez

Sports Mole says: 2-2
