Arsenal close in on £31.5m Mats Hummels deal?

A report claims that Arsenal are in "advanced talks" with Borussia Dortmund over a potential £31.5m move for defender Mats Hummels.

Arsenal are reportedly close to agreeing a £31.5m deal with Borussia Dortmund over the services of centre-back Mats Hummels.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the sought-after Germany international, and talks are now said to be at an "advanced stage".

Arsene Wenger revealed earlier this month that he is in the market for another defender ahead of the January transfer window, following a string of injury and suspension problems which have left the club short of options at the back.

Despite rumoured interest from Manchester United, a report published in The Metro claims that the Emirates Stadium is now the likely destination for Hummels.

Dortmund and Arsenal meet once more in the Champions League group stage at the end of November.
