Arsenal 'see Jorginho bid rejected'

A report claims that Arsenal have failed in a £15m move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho, who has been linked with the Gunners since 2015.

Arsenal have reportedly failed in a £15m move for Napoli midfielder Jorginho.

The 25-year-old joined Napoli from Verona in the summer of 2014, and has scored twice in 105 appearances for the Italian outfit over the last four seasons.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal launched a £15m bid for Italy international on Saturday, but Napoli were quick to reject the offer for a player that started 27 of their 38 Serie A matches during the 2016-17 campaign.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is said to have been following Jorginho since 2015, and the Frenchman is expected to respond with an improved offer ahead of the new Premier League season.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Arsenal have moved a step closer to signing Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon over the last 24 hours.
