Rafael Benitez expects Karim Benzema to stay with Real Madrid

Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez claims that he expects Karim Benzema to stay with the club this summer amid reported interest from Arsenal.

Real Madrid coach Rafael Benitez has dismissed speculation linking Karim Benzema with a move away from the club.

Reports have claimed that Arsenal are lining up a bid for the France international striker.

Despite rumours concerning Benzema's future at the Santiago Bernabeu, Benitez is confident that the 27-year-old will remain with the Spaniards.

"People are asking me about different players that maybe we will buy and I always say the same thing: 'he's not our player, I will not talk about that'," he told reporters.

"In this case Karim is our player so I will not talk about that. I hope, I'm sure, that he will stay with us."

Benitez was speaking after Madrid thrashed Manchester City 4-1 in Melbourne to win the International Champions Cup.
