Lord Harris: 'Arsenal could probably buy any player in the world'

Arsenal club director Lord Harris says that the Gunners could probably afford to capture any player in the world in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal club director Lord Harris has insisted that manager Arsene Wenger has the financial backing to buy whoever he wants in the current transfer window.

The Gunners have made just one major signing this summer in the shape of £10m goalkeeper Petr Cech, but Harris has stated that the North London club still carry the same transfer weight as all of their Premier League title rivals.

"Money was tight when we moved to the Emirates but it's a lot freer now," Harris told the Daily Mail.

"We could go into the market and probably buy any player in the world, apart from half a dozen who are un-buyable.

"In the accounts, there's over £200m in the bank. There are no plans to sign anyone, unless he finds a real superstar like [Mesut] Ozil or [Alexis] Sanchez. He's looking for one of those but there aren't many available."

Arsenal finished the 2014-15 Premier League season in third place behind Chelsea and Manchester City.
