Arsenal's Arsene Wenger: 'Manchester United have no patience in transfer policy'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Manchester United have abandoned their traditional transfer policy and are no longer 'patient'.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has suggested that Manchester United have abandoned their core principles with regards to player recruitment as evidenced by their heavy spending in the transfer window.

The Frenchman has claimed that Arsenal continue to try to blend youth players through the ranks, but United have given up that strategy.

Louis van Gaal has spent upwards of £50m on new additions so far this summer, while Arsenal have parted with £11m on one signing - goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea.

"We want to continue to combine stronger financial resources with faith in our philosophy and policy," The Times quotes Wenger as saying. "That means we want to continue to give chances to young players and build the players from inside our club with our culture.

"Most of the clubs who have been successful are clubs who have done that well. You can take Barcelona or Man United, who had a generation and built their success on players who came from within.

"With United's success they have created huge financial resources and today there is no patience for them to continue to do what they did, and they have the financial resources to go with a different policy."

So far in this window, United have signed Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
