Perez: 'No Arsenal offer for Higuain'

Gonzalo Higuain's potential move to Arsenal appears to be far from imminent, with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez revealing that the Gunners have yet to bid for their Argentine striker.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has revealed that they have yet to receive a bid from Arsenal for Gonzalo Higuain and has stressed the club's desire to keep the Argentine forward.

It had been reported that the Gunners were close to tying up a deal for the 25-year-old striker and that he had even travelled to England ahead of a medical at the Emirates Stadium.

Higuain largely played second fiddle to Karim Benzema in the Los Blancos attack last year under Jose Mourinho, but new Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti and Perez are reluctant to sell him.

"We don't want Higuain to leave," Perez told Univision. "What's more no-one from Arsenal has come to us and made us any offers at all for him. There are no offers on the table."

Higuain scored 18 goals in 41 appearances for the Spanish giants in all competitions last season.
