Arsenal will reportedly have to pay £55m to secure the signing of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer.

Arsenal will have to pay at least £55m to secure the signing of Liverpool striker Luis Suarez this summer, according to a report.

The Gunners had a bid of £40,000,001, rejected by Brendan Rodgers's side, but the Uruguayan was prepared to challenge his club's decision, believing that his release clause had been met.

Following a discussion with his representatives, Suarez has now conceded that the Reds have the right not to sell him for any price and Gunners manager Arsene Wenger will have to stump up a fee in the region of £55m to land the striker, reports The Mirror.

A source said: "We are 100% confident - there is absolutely no obligation to sell and that is very clear.

"We've all examined the clause in detail. All it obliges is good faith negotiations about Luis's future."

Earlier this summer, Suarez admitted that he wanted to leave Liverpool.
