Aston Villa midfielder Jean Makoun will join loanee club Rennes permanently at the end of the season.

French club Rennes have confirmed that Cameroon international Jean Makoun will join them on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

The 29-year-old, who signed for Villa from Lyon in 2011, has spent the entire current campaign with Rennes in Ligue 1.

He has done enough to impress manager Frederic Antonetti and will sign a reported two-year deal in the summer.

Makoun cost Premier League outfit Villa £6m, while they are only believed to have received £1.5m in return.
