Half-Time Report: Tiago earns lead for Atletico Madrid

Tiago's strike earns Atletico Madrid a 1-0 half-time lead over Deportivo La Coruna.

Tiago has given Atletico Madrid a 1-0 half-time lead over Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor.

Deportivo made a bright start to the contest, but it was Atletico who created the first chance of the game when Jackson Martinez's effort was blocked by Sidnei after Yannick Ferreira Carrasco had found the Colombian striker.

The home side settled for operating on the break as they attempted to frustrate Diego Simeone's side, and the defence looked comfortable for much of the first half until the deadlock was broken.

After defending stubbornly for so long, Deportivo were guilty of gifting too much space to Tiago, who capitalised to find the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

The lead was almost doubled before the break when Diego Godin headed against the crossbar from a corner, with Antoine Griezmann only managing to hit the rebound straight at German Lux.
