Relive Sports Mole's commentary of the La Liga clash in Pamplona where Osasuna beat Atletico Madrid 3-0.

Atletico Madrid travelled to Osasuna on Sunday evening looking to move level on 63 points with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

The visitors were behind inside six minutes, however, when Alvaro Cejudo converted a corner from inside the box, before Emiliano Armenteros made it 2-0 after 21 minutes.

Osasuna were not finished in the first half and scored their third after 42 minutes courtesy of a header from Roberto Torres.

Atletico made changes in the second period, but it made little difference as the home side recorded a famous win over the capital outfit.

Read how it all unfolded in Sports Mole's minute-by-minute live commentary of the action below.

Evening all! Our final live La Liga commentary of the evening comes from Pamplona as Osasuna welcome Atletico Madrid. The home side have taken four points from their last two matches, with that run of form moving them into 14th spot in the table. However, they are just four points from the bottom three with 14 games remaining.

Atletico, meanwhile, enter the match off the back of a 1-0 win over AC Milan in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash. In La Liga, they currently sit level on points with Barcelona and three behind leaders Real Madrid, but would move level on 63 points with victory this evening. On the road this season, Atletico have won eight of their 11 matches.

In terms of the recent meetings between the two sides, Atletico have won four of the last five matches, with the further fixture – in August 2011 at the Vicente Calderon – ending goalless. The corresponding match last season ended in a 2-0 Atletico win, while Diego Simeone's side were 2-1 winners when the pair met earlier in this campaign.

TEAMS:

OSASUNA: Fernandez; Bertran, Loties, Arribas, Damia; Cejudo, Lolo, Silva; Armenteros, Riera, Torres

ATLETICO: Courtois; Juanfran, Alderweireld, Godin, Filipe; Gabi, Suarez, Diego; Adrian, Costa, Villa

So there we have it. No real surprises in the Osasuna XI this evening with leading scorer Oriol Riera joined in attack by Armenteros and Roberto Torres. Atletico, meanwhile, welcome back Filipe Luis and David Villa from injury. Mario Suarez, Adrian Lopez and Toby Alderweireld also start with Koke, Miranda and Arda Turan on the bench. Right, the away side get the first period underway on this warm evening in Pamplona.

Just a quick word on the Madrid derby next week – Atletico's Costa, Godin, Luis, Turan and Miranda are all one booking away from missing the top-of-the-table clash. It will be interesting to see whether that plays a part this evening for those in the firing line. You just get the feeling that the first goal - if there indeed is one - could be vital in this type of contest.

Both Real Madrid and Barcelona have failed to win in this stadium this season, which is an indication of Osasuna's strength against the top teams at home. The pitch is not in the best condition this evening, which should suit for the home side. Not too much to report in the opening four minutes, although Courtois's palms are stung by Damia.

CHANCE! The first opportunity of the match falls to Diego as the Atletico midfielder meets a poor clearance from Lolo, but his effort is high and wide of the crossbar. It was bright work from Luis in the build-up. Moments later, Costa delivers a cross into the arms of Andres Fernandez.

GOAL! Osasuna 1-0 Atletico (Cejudo)

Wow! The home side take the lead after six minutes as Cejudo arrives unmarked from a corner before drilling a low effort into the back of the net. Brilliant set piece from Osasuna. This stadium has erupted!

Well, that was not in the script?! Osasuna do not score too many goals at home, but they have struck first this evening. Sensational noise inside the stadium at the moment with Atletico clumsy in possession of the ball. What an opening nine minutes to this Spanish contest.

CHANCE! Another wonderful chance for the home side as Torres delivers a sensational cross into the Atletico box, but Suarez just manages to clear in front of Riera, who would have had the simple task of heading into an empty net. Atletico do not look comfortable from crosses at the moment that is for certain.

You just get the feeling that Osasuna need to score a second during this positive spell because Atletico will surely improve as the half wares on. The noise is just stunning inside the stadium as Torres looks for Riera inside the Atletico box, but Diego is on hand to clear at the vital moment. Down the other end, Costa gains some respite for his side after winning a free kick.

The tempo has just settled in the last couple of moments with Atletico seeing more of the ball in the Osasuna half. Costa has been heavily involved in the opening 16 minutes, but more due to his battling with defenders. It is a match where a strong referee is needed. There will certainly be a number of late challenges and altercations in Pamplona.

Not too much to report in terms of chances in the last couple of minutes, but Atletico are certainly seeing more of the ball in the final third. You just get the feeling that the next goal - if there indeed is one - could be vital. You would fancy Atletico to complete the turnaround if they levelled before the interval.

When Atletico have lost away this season, it has been in surprising venues with defeats at Espanyol and Almeria. Osasuna continue to worry Atletico with crosses into the box, which is not like Diego Simeone's side. The trip to Milan in the week might have taken something out of them.

GOAL! Osasuna 2-0 Atletico (Armenteros)

Oh my good grief! Osasuna score their second in incredible circumstances as Armenteros finds some space outside the box before drilling one into the top corner. Atletico are in trouble on the road again in La Liga.

It has to be better from Atletico as another move breaks down in the final third. Just a reminder that Simeone's side welcome Real Madrid in the league next weekend. They will not want to enter that match off the back of a defeat. There is still time for that to change, but Osasuna are in complete control at the moment.

Costa wants a penalty as the Atletico forward falls to the ground under pressure from Loties, but the referee is not interested. Moments later, Lolo slices a Villa cross behind his own crossbar, but the resulting corner from Gabi is collected by Fernandez. The opening 27 minutes of this match has just flown past. Osasuna still lead 2-0.

First real sight of goal for Atletico as Costa finds some space outside the box, but his effort is high and wide of the crossbar. You just get the feeling that one goal for Atletico before the interval would give them real hope of turning this one around. Osasuna need to continue their intensity in the final third.

Costa threatens for Atletico as the forward challenges Osasuna goalkeeper Fernandez, but the referee blows for a free kick. Not too much in terms of pressure from the home side in the last few moments with the visitors seeing more and more of the ball. Little over 15 minutes of the first period remaining.

CHANCE! Wonderful chance for the away side as Gabi delivers a sensational cross into the Osasuna box, but somehow Suarez cannot make contact despite arriving unmarked. The opportunities are starting to arrive for the visitors, who have improved since conceding twice in the early stages.

Atletico continue to dominate possession in the Osasuna half, but clear chances have been hard to find for the Spanish outfit. You just get the feeling that Osasuna need to keep a clean sheet in the first period. It would not be a surprise if Atletico boss Simeone looked to his bench sooner rather than later. He certainly has attacking options.

The pressure from the away side continues as Juanfran drives down the right before attempting to move past Damia, but the Spaniard is on hand to clear the danger. Villa meets a through pass from Suarez moments later, but the offside flag is raised. Little under 10 minutes of the first period remaining at El Sadar.

Opportunity for Osasuna to threaten from a free kick as Suarez, who has just been booked, fells Riera. However, the resulting set piece breaks down after being played short. The referee needs to be strong in the latter stages of the half as a series of late challenges continue to occur.

The service to Costa has been extremely poor in the first period, which must be in Simeone's thinking at the interval. It would not be a surprise to see changes occur. The referee has been more involved than he would have liked in the last few moments as the late challenges continue to arrive in the middle of the park.

GOAL! Osasuna 3-0 Atletico (Torres)

Incredible, just incredible. Osasuna have their third moments before the interval as Torres heads a Damia cross into the back of the net from close range. What has happened to this Atletico defence?

It is the first time in La Liga this season that Atletico have conceded three goals. Osasuna are not finished as they continue to deliver dangerous balls into the area. Atletico really need half time in order to regroup. What can Simeone say at the interval to raise this team?

HALF TIME: Osasuna 3-0 Atletico

Wow. Incredible score from El Sadar with Osasuna leading Atletico 3-0 at the break. The home side were two goals ahead inside 21 minutes through Cejudo and Armenteros, before Torres made it 3-0 in the latter stages of the half. It has been a nightmare first 45 minutes for Atletico, who have been dominated in every area. Simeone needs a big teamtalk at the interval.

STATISTICS: The away side have had more of the ball with 54%, but they have failed to hit the target with any of their four attempts. Osasuna, meanwhile, have found the target four times from seven attempts. It has been a feisty half in terms of challenges, but the referee has issued just the one yellow for Mario Suarez.

BENCH WATCH: Osasuna boss Javi Gracia will not be thinking about more attacking options at the moment, but he has the likes of Acuna, Nino and Loe on the bench this evening. Atletico, meanwhile, have attacking options in the shape of Koke, Raul Garcia, Arda Turan and Rodriguez.

Here we go then. Both sets of players join us on the pitch for the second period. You just get the feeling that Atletico need to score early if they are to have any chance of turning this match around. It will take a miracle from this position that is for certain. Osasuna get the second 45 minutes underway at El Sadar.

No surprise that Atletico have made a change at the interval with Koke entering the field in place of Suarez, which is not much of a surprise. It is a surprise, however, that Adrian is still out there. He had a horror in the first period. Osasuna, who were so impressive in the first half, go with the same XI. Can Atletico turn this around?

Excuse me, there has been a change for Osasuna at the interval with Oier on for Bertran, who is believed to have picked up an injury. Costa's frustration continues as the Atletico forward watches a cross drift over his head. Fairly low-key start to the second half with Osasuna pressing Atletico high up the pitch.

Slight problem for Cejudo as the Osasuna midfielder clashes with Koke, but it does appear that the Spaniard will be fit to continue. I suspect that Simeone is considering another change with Raul Garcia and Turan being put through their paces on the side of the pitch. Not too much in terms of attacking pressure from either side in the second half thus far.

Osasuna look like the team challenging for the league title at the moment as the home side continue to dominate the ball in the Atletico half. There has been no response from the away side, who look extremely leggy. Comfortable for the hosts with 55 minutes on the clock.

Osasuna continue to force mistakes from Atletico in the final third as the clock continues to tick on. There has been no improvement from Atletico in the second period, which is surprising. Loties almost turns into his own goal in a freak incident, but luckily for Osasuna it moves just wide of the post for a corner.

The away side threaten with two corners in quick succession, but Oier and Loties take it in turns to clear the danger. Atletico make their second change of the match moments later as Diego is replaced by Arda Turan, which is not much of a surprise. There is still time for Atletico to turn this one around.

Atletico are not too happy with the perceived timewasting from Osasuna in the last few moments as Torres hits the ground and stays down following a challenge with Juanfran. It would not be a surprise to see Atletico make their third change in the next few moments with Garcia for Adrian the likely move from Simeone.

Atletico make their third and final change, but it is Villa that leaves the field for Garcia. The away side have the chance to threaten from a free kick as Gabi delivers into the box, but there are no takers. Still no real opportunities for either side in the second period at El Sadar.

Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague has some words for Atletico boss Diego Simeone...

As it stands, Atletico are heading for their fourth defeat in their last six games in all competitions. There is just a worry that their season could drift to an end. Just a reminder that next week they welcome Real Madrid to the Calderon. Quite a big one that! Little over 20 minutes remaining with Osasuna still leading 3-0.

Simeone continues to parade the touchline, but he has played all his cards from the bench. Osasuna are not too worried about pushing forward at the moment, but they have their three-goal cushion. Atletico are attempting to force the issue, but the quality just has not been there this evening.

CHANCE! Wonderful chance for the home side to score their fourth as Torres finds Cejudo inside the Atletico box, but his effort smashes into the side netting. Atletico are down the other end with Adrian moments later, but the Spaniard had moved into an offside position.

Loties continues to win the battle with Costa as the French defender clears a cross from Turan under pressure from the forward. Costa attempts to gain a penalty moments later, but the referee is not interested. Little over 15 minutes of football remaining at El Sadar.

Osasuna goalkeeper Fernandez has not had a single save of note to make this evening, which is incredible against a team battling for the title this season. Not too much to report in terms of chances in the last few moments with the home side comfortable in dealing with the threat from the visitors.

CHANCE! Atletico's best chance of the evening arrives to Garcia as the midfielder meets a deep cross from Turan, but his effort just moves wide of the post. Better from the away side, but it is certainly far too little too late.

Osasuna make their second change of the match as Loties, who has been brilliant this evening, is replaced by Miguel Flano. Wonderful atmosphere inside the stadium as the home supporters continue to raise their voices. Little under 10 minutes of football remaining. I think it is safe to say that Osasuna are heading for all three points.

CHANCE! Wonderful chance for Costa to open Atletico's tally for the evening following a mazy run into the box, but his final effort is high and wide of the crossbar. Better from Costa, who has had little service.

Osasuna make their third and final change as Cejudo is replaced by Loe, who will slot into central midfield. Not too much in terms of attacking intent from the home side in the last couple of moments as the clock ticks on. Can Atletico grab a late consolation?

There is a Mexican Wave inside the stadium at the moment, which is a demonstration of the feel-good atmosphere inside the stadium. Few would have predicted that at the beginning of the match. Atletico threaten with a couple of crosses into the box, but the home side continue to clear the danger.

Half-chance for Atletico as Koke meets a loose ball inside the Osasuna box, but his effort is straight at Fernandez from close range. It has been an improved second period from Atletico.

FULL TIME: Osasuna 3-0 Atletico

So there we have it. Incredible performance from the home side as they record a 3-0 win over Atletico, who have lost four of their last six in all competitions. Thanks for joining Sports Mole for the action and be sure to join us again tomorrow for more Spanish football. Until then!
