Atletico Madrid held at Deportivo La Coruna

Atletico Madrid draw 0-0 with Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor in La Liga this evening.

Atletico Madrid have been held to a 0-0 draw by Deportivo La Coruna at the Riazor in La Liga this evening.

In a fairly drab affair, neither side were able to make the breakthrough with the result leaving Diego Simeone's team third in the division, with Depor staying just outside the drop zone in 17th.

With very little in the way of goalmouth action at either end, it was Radamel Falcao who fired in the first real effort when he shot low at Depor's goal, but his strike was eventually held by Dani Aranzubia.

The Colombian then went close with a header on the half-hour mark, but his effort was tipped over by Aranzubia.

The second half was played very much in the same vein as the first with neither side creating anything clear-cut.

Falcao again had a decent sight of goal but he was well cut out by Manuel Pablo as the striker looked set to bear down on goal.

Gabi came closest to scoring with eight minutes remaining, but his shot struck the crossbar, before Miranda had a goal ruled out for offside in stoppage time.
