Magdeburg stun Augsburg in DFB-Pokal first round

Bundesliga side Augsburg fall to Magdeburg of the German fourth tier in the first round of the DFB-Pokal.

Bundesliga side Augsburg have been knocked out of the DFB-Pokal by fourth-tier outfit Magdeburg.

Augsburg had the best of the openings in the first half, with Tim Matavz firing just wide on the quarter-hour mark.

The winning goal was scored in the 57th minute by Christian Beck, who found space to fire home from Nico Hammann's set piece.

The visitors pushed for an equaliser, but Magdeburg held on to reach the second round of the competition.
