Ashley Barnes 'expected to make Austria squad for first time'

Ashley Barnes is reportedly expecting to be called up by Austria manager Franco Foda for the first time next month.

Burnley forward Ashley Barnes is reportedly set to be named in Austria's squad for their international friendlies next month.

The 28-year-old was born in England, but is eligible to play for Austria through his grandmother's nationality.

Barnes scored nine goals to help his side to a seventh-place Premier League finish and Europa League qualification last season.

According to Sky Sports News, Franco Foda wants Barnes in his next squad and the former Brighton & Hove Albion striker will accept the offer.

Austria will play Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Ireland in their upcoming friendlies.
