Freddy Adu makes Brazil switch

USA international Freddy Adu joins Bahia in Brazil, while former Manchester United midfielder Kleberson moves in the opposite direction.

American Freddy Adu has signed for Brazilian outfit Bahia.

The 23-year-old, who once had a trial with Manchester United, has made the switch following a two-year stint in the MLS with Philadelphia Union.

"Very excited for this new chapter. Thanks for all the good luck wishes and the continuous support," he wrote on the social networking site Twitter.

Having once been dubbed as one of the brightest youngsters in world football, Adu has gone on to have spells with DC United, Real Salt Lake, Benfica, Monaco, Belenenses, Aris and Caykur Rizespor before he linked up with Union.

As part of the deal that has taken Adu to Bahia, former Man United midfielder and Brazilian World Cup winner Kleberson has moved in the opposite direction.
