Lionel Messi admits that progressing to the Champions League quarter-finals will be "difficult" but is confident of getting the better of AC Milan next week.

Barcelona forward Lionel Messi has insisted that his side can beat AC Milan at Camp Nou and progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.

The Blaugrana lost the first leg of their last-16 tie 2-0 at the San Siro last month.

"We need a little more of everything and we are aware of that," he told reporters.

"We are coming off the back of major defeats (to Real Madrid in Copa del Rey and La Liga) and we should all give more of ourselves so as to change the situation.

"I know that the match against Milan will be key to making a good change. I hope we can do it. We all do. It will be difficult, but it is possible. What we could not do over there in Italy, we can do here."

The second leg of the tie will be played next Tuesday.
