Pep Guardiola insists that Lionel Messi will not lose any confidence following his late penalty miss against Sevilla.

Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola believes that Lionel Messi will not be affected by his late penalty miss against Sevilla on Saturday evening.

The Argentine saw his stoppage time spot-kick saved by Javi Varas in the Nou Camp, costing his side two points as the match finished 0-0.

Despite the disappointment etched across the 24-year-old's face as he left the pitch, Guardiola has insisted that his player will not lose confidence for the upcoming fixtures.

"Messi is fine," the Barca coach said at a press conference earlier today.

"He is recovering from the big effort he put in on Saturday. He knows it [the miss] is part of the game, but he won't let it affect him - there's no time."

Barca are currently third in the La Liga table, trailing leaders Levante and Real Madrid.
