Andres Iniesta eager to continue playing with Carles Puyol

Andres Iniesta is eager for Carles Puyol to resist the temptation to end his Barcelona career at the end of the season.

Andres Iniesta has urged Carles Puyol to pledge his future to Barcelona as reports continue to suggest that the defender may retire at the end of the season.

Despite having a contract at the club until 2016, Puyol's injury troubles have led many to believe that the Spaniard could be forced to bring an end to his career.

"I hope and wish that this isn't Puyol's last season with the team," Iniesta, who has played his entire career alongside the 35-year-old, told reporters.

"I would like to have him in the dressing room for a very long time."

Puyol has made just four appearances in La Liga this season.
