Barcelona are desperate for Samuel Umtiti to sign a new contract amid talk of interest from Manchester United and Manchester City, according to a report.

Barcelona are reportedly 'prioritising' the contract renewal of centre-back Samuel Umtiti.

Umtiti has a contract with Barcelona until the end of the 2020-21 season, but his release clause stands at £53m, which has led to suggestions of interest from Manchester United and Manchester City.

According to Diario Sport, Barcelona are aware that the two Manchester giants are admirers of the Frenchman, and the La Liga leaders are desperate to sign the centre-back to a new contract.

Umtiti has made 66 appearances for Barcelona following a move from Lyon in the summer of 2016.

The 24-year-old is also a 14-time France international and, injury permitting, will be a part of the Les Bleus squad that travels to the 2018 World Cup.
