Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze resumes full training for the first time since joining Pep Guardiola's side this summer.

Bayern Munich midfielder Mario Gotze has handed coach Pep Guardiola a boost after joining his new teammates in full training for the first time.

Gotze has been sidelined by a groin injury since making his £32m switch from Borussia Dortmund, the same problem that also forced him to miss last season's Champions League final at Wembley.

The 21-year-old resumed full training this afternoon as he begins his efforts to be fit for the start of the new season.

A large number of Bayern's regular starting XI sat out the session after helping them secure the Audi Cup last night with a 2-1 success against Manchester City.

Guardiola is unlikely to have Gotze fit for selection ahead of next week's Bundesliga opener - a home match against Borussia Monchengladbach on August 9.
