Pep Guardiola: Bayern Munich have had "super season"

Pep Guardiola insists that Bayern Munich have enjoyed a "super season", despite their 3-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona likely consigning them to a one-trophy campaign.

Pep Guardiola maintains that Bayern Munich have enjoyed a "super season", despite their 3-0 Champions League defeat to Barcelona earlier this week.

The Spaniard has come under some criticism after suffering the defeat on his return to Camp Nou on Wednesday, leaving Bayern with a mammoth second-leg task.

That result, combined with a recent DFB-Pokal semi-final defeat to Borussia Dortmund, means that the Bundesliga champions are likely to only win one piece of silverware this season, but Guardiola still insists that represents success.

"Super season, super season," he responded when a reporter asked him to rate Bayern's campaign.

"If a team chase three titles, win the league, reach the German Cup semi-final and the Champions League semi-final then it is a super, super season.

"How many times did Bayern win a treble? How many? One time? One time, okay. Of course we wanted to win the treble but it is still an amazing season."

Guardiola arrived at Bayern in 2013 following their treble-winning season under Jupp Heynckes.
