Former Bayern Munich midfielder Dietmar Hamann has stated his belief that Robert Lewandowski is the best number nine in world football.
The 26-year-old striker has scored 10 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this term after moving to the Allianz Arena from Borussia Dortmund during the summer.
Despite his disappointing goal return so far, Hamann believes that Lewandowski is one of the best strikers around and Dortmund are feeling the effects of his exit.
"For me, Lewandowski is the best number nine in the world," Hamann told Sky Deutschland. "He made the difference at Dortmund before joining Bayern.
"He was BVB's most important player. He was more important than [Marco] Reus is now and than Mario Gotze ever was at Dortmund. There are no words to describe how important he was at Dortmund."
Lewandowski scored 20 Bundesliga goals in 33 appearances during his final season at Dortmund.
