Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has claimed that there has been too much criticism aimed at Pep Guardiola after the club's treble bid collapsed in recent weeks.
The Bundesliga champions were knocked out by Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal semi-final, before Barcelona earned a spot in the Champions League final by clinching an aggregate victory at the Allianz Arena in midweek.
Guardiola's tactics were questioned by many over the two legs against Barcelona, but Rummenigge believes that it is unfair to compare this side with the one that claimed a treble under Jupp Heynckes in 2013.
"There is an anti-Guardiola trend at the moment within society," Rummenigge told SZ.
"I am very satisfied with this season. Only recently have people begun to compare every season with the treble of 2013. We've done that once in 115 years!"
Guardiola's current deal expires at the end of next season and he has recently been linked with Manchester City.
