Anthony Vanden Borre out of World Cup

Belgium defender Anthony Vanden Borre will miss the rest of the World Cup as he sustained a broken ankle during his side's 1-0 win over South Korea.

Belgium boss Marc Wilmots has announced that defender Anthony Vanden Borre will miss the rest of the World Cup due to sustaining a broken ankle.

The 26-year-old started in place of Toby Alderweireld in Wilmots's side's 1-0 win over South Korea in their final Group G game, but will now be out for the rest of the tournament.

Wilmots told reporters: "Anthony won't play again at this World Cup but will stay with our team."

Belgium face the USA in their second-round clash on Tuesday.
