Blackpool interim player-manager Barry Ferguson has revealed that he decided to return to the team after talking to his staff and players.
The 36-year-old had not taken to the field since replacing Paul Ince in January.
Ferguson, who named himself in the starting lineup for Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Leeds United, has admitted that he enjoyed being back in action.
"I was a bit hesitant about putting myself back in. I hadn't trained in a long time," he told the Blackpool Gazette. "I had done plenty of bike and gym work but no football, but I enjoyed it.
"I had a chat with the staff and spoke to a few of the players, and they wanted me to at least try. I'm willing to do everything and anything I can to turn this run of results around."
Blackpool are currently two points clear of the Championship relegation zone with four games remaining.
