Gary Bowyer targets "right characters" for Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers manager Gary Bowyer says that he is looking to sign the "right characters" for the club during the current transfer window.

Gary Bowyer has said that Blackburn Rovers must sign the "right characters" to strengthen their squad for the 2014-15 Championship season.

The club signed 14 new players last summer, but went on to finish eighth in the table, missing out on a place in the playoffs.

The manager told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We're working hard to bring players in but don't need to bring 12-13 in like we did last year.

"That has made it a little bit easier but there's a lot of work gone in to finding the right types and the right characters. We're not going to go off from the formula that we thought was successful last season.

"But we are working very hard and it's not just a case of bringing somebody in to sit on the bench, we want to bring somebody in who will push the lads."

Bowyer hopes to have signed new players before the team begin their pre-season training on July 2.
