Barry Ferguson: 'Blackpool wanted to sign more players in loan market'

Barry Ferguson admits that Blackpool were hoping to bring in more players during the recent loan window.

Blackpool caretaker manager Barry Ferguson has revealed that he was hoping to sign more players before the loan window closed.

Apostolos Vellios joined the club on a temporary deal from Everton, but Ferguson admits that the club were left frustrated in their attempts to add to their squad.

"We tried to get a couple of other players in but they didn't happen, for one reason or another," the 36-year-old told the Blackpool Gazette.

"As I said last week, it was through no fault of our own that they didn't arrive. We did everything we possibly could."

Ferguson will reportedly have to wait to learn more about his future after it was suggested on Tuesday that the club would wait until the end of the season to make a permanent appointment.
