Neil Lennon: Late defeat against Blackburn Rovers "unacceptable"

Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon admits that his side's performances in the closing stages of games is simply "not good enough" following another setback at Ewood Park.

Neil Lennon has slammed his Bolton Wanderers players for throwing away more Championship points in the closing stages of a game.

The Trotters were undone by a last-gasp Jordan Rhodes strike at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening as they fell to a 1-0 defeat.

Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Reading have all scored in the final five minutes of games since the end of January, while Liverpool did likewise to progress in a dramatic FA Cup tie.

Lennon admits that something must change, telling The Bolton News: "It's unacceptable - that's five in a month. I set the team up to be hard to beat and resolute but once again it must be a mentality thing; the last kick of the game.

"We would be seven points better off if we had defended right and to tell you the truth, I don't know what to do. We were sound for the most part.

"Ben Amos made a couple of good saves and Jason Steele got man of the match for them so it shows how well we played. But it's not enough. I need more away from home. We're not replicating our home form away from home and it must be a psychological thing."

Bolton remain in 18th place in the league table with 10 games left to play this season.
