Neil Lennon to remain in charge of Bolton Wanderers

Bolton Wanderers confirm that Neil Lennon will remain as manager following an internal investigation over claims made in a newspaper.

Bolton Wanderers have confirmed that Neil Lennon will remain in charge of the club following an internal investigation over claims made in a Sunday newspaper.

The Trotters launched their investigation last week after The Sunday Mirror alleged that Lennon had physically threatened a woman with whom he had been having an affair.

The report also claimed that Lennon had offered the woman £10,000 in cash to prevent her from telling his long-term partner Irene McCloy.

"Bolton Wanderers Football Club can announce that they have now concluded an internal investigation into an article published in The Sunday Mirror on Sunday 20 December," read a statement from the club.

"The club has dealt with the matter internally and acted accordingly, details of which will remain private. Neil Lennon will remain in charge of the first team squad.

"The club will be making no further comment on the matter."

Bolton currently sit bottom of the Championship table, five points adrift of safety having won just once and scored only 10 goals in their 22 matches so far.
