Result: Bolton Wanderers 2-3 Manchester City

Goals from David Silva, Gareth Barry and Edin Dzeko send Manchester City top of the Premier League, beating Bolton Wanderers 3-2.

Manchester City went top of the Premier League this afternoon after a 3-2 victory against Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium.

Sergio Aguero, starting his first league game for City, had a goal disallowed and missed two good chances in an action-packed first half.

The visitors took the lead in the 26th minute when Jussi Jaaskelainen failed to keep out David Silva's effort from outside the box.

England midfielder Gareth Barry doubled City's lead soon after, firing home from 25 yards after a short corner from James Milner.

The Trotters reduced the deficit on 39 minutes when Ivan Klasnic drilled home Martin Petrov's volleyed cross.

Two minutes after the restart, Bosnian Edin Dzeko restored City's two-goal cushion, out-muscling Zat Knight and volleying past Jaaskelainen.

But Bolton again pegged City back when captain Kevin Davies looped a header past Joe Hart.

City move top of the league on goal difference ahead of Wolves, while Bolton go seventh.
