Dortmund move seven points clear

Borussia Dortmund stretch their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to seven points with a 2-1 victory over Mainz.

Borussia Dortmund have stretched their lead at the top of the Bundesliga to seven points with a 2-1 victory over Mainz.

Shinji Kagawa's 77th-minute goal grabbed all three points for Jurgen Klopp's men, who are now unbeaten in 15 league games, winning their last eight.

Mohamed Zidan had briefly levelled for the visitors in the 74th minute after Jakub Blaszczykowski had opened the scoring in the first half.

"It was a very intense game. From the 10th minute onwards, we have played a really good game," said Klopp.

"Unfortunately, we have not profited on our chances, but we showed a reaction to [Mohamed Zidan's] equaliser, which is good.

"Whether there is a meaning to our seven-point lead, I have not thought about it because now I could only babble rubbish about it."

Dortmund now face an away match against FC Augsburg next Saturday.
