Jurgen Klopp delighted with derby success

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp credits his side with a focused, efficient display in Saturday's 3-1 win over local rivals Schalke 04.

Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has shared his delight after securing victory in Saturday's 3-1 victory over bitter rivals Schalke 04 in the Ruhr derby.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Nuri Sahin and Jakub Blaszczykowski were all on target for Dortmund at the Veltins Arena, as BVB claimed success despite Max Meyer's strike for Schalke.

Klopp believes that his players were focused from the outset despite a hostile atmosphere in Gelsenkirchen, while declaring that Aubemeyang's early strike allowed them to dictate the match and counter consistently.

He told the Bundesliga's official website: "It was an intense game, and we began well. It was lovely build-up for the first goal, which made the game more open and suited us.

"Schalke came back into it through Max Meyer, and it was close. We're very happy."

Victory over Schalke completed a memorable week for the Yellow and Blacks, coming four days after a 2-1 win at Arsenal that got their Champions League campaign back on track.
