Cafu: 'Brazil can win World Cup'

Former Brazil captain Cafu tips the Selecao to win the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Former Brazil captain Cafu has tipped the Selecao to win the 2018 World Cup this summer.

Cafu represented his nation in four World Cups between 1994 and 2006 - winning the trophy on two occasions.

The now 48-year-old also played in three consecutive World Cup finals, and was the captain when the South American nation last won the competition back in 2002.

The Selecao famously lost to Germany in the semi-finals of the 2014 tournament on home soil, but Cafu has insisted that his nation have what it takes to triumph in Russia.

"They are playing really well. They have been preparing for so many years," Cafu told Omnisport. "We have plenty of experienced players in many positions and all of them are the main players at their clubs.

"It's been a long time since Brazil qualified with four matches to spare. Brazil is growing every game and our coach has given a certain style to the Brazil squad. That's why Brazil has what it takes to win it."

Brazil will open their Group E campaign against Switzerland on Sunday night.
