Brentford and Sheffield Wednesday settled for a point apiece in their Championship clash as they played out a 0-0 draw at Griffin Park this evening.
The home side started the match well as they dominated possession, and Andre Gray thought he had given his team the lead in the 13th minute, only to see his strike disallowed for offside.
Wednesday came back into the game when Chris Maguire picked up the ball outside of the area, and he drilled an effort towards the top corner, but David Button was on hand to make a diving stop.
The visitors continued to threaten as Stevie May found space to fire a shot at goal, but Button was there to make the parried save, and on the rebound Jeremy Helan failed to hit the target from a tight angle.
May caused problems for the home side again as he collected a free kick from Maguire and cracked an effort at goal, which beat Button but clattered off the post and bounced clear.
Brentford started the second half the better of the sides as Jota lifted a corner into the box, which was met by the head of Jonathan Douglas and looked goalbound, but Liam Palmer cleared his effort off the line.
Jota continued to be a threat for the home side and he went close to breaking the deadlock when he drove down the middle of the field and let fly with a powerful shot, which went inches wide of the post.
Wednesday hit back as Maguire forced another save from Button as he cracked an effort at goal from just outside the box, but the keeper was on hand to palm the ball wide.
Both sides pushed for a winner late on, but couldn't find the net as they settled for a point apiece at Griffin Park.
