Outgoing manager Mark Warburton glad for Brentford "clarity"

Departing Brentford manager Mark Warburton reveals his relief at being told that he will no longer be manager of the Bees come the end of the season.

Outgoing Brentford boss Mark Warburton has assured supporters that he will "move heaven and earth" to get the club promoted to the Premier League this season after it was announced that it would be his last term as Bees boss.

The West London side opted to announce Warburton's departure with 15 games of the season remaining to pursue a new management structure that Warburton didn't want to be a part of.

Club owner Matthew Benham wants to introduce the head coach-sporting director model more commonly seen in Europe, and Warburton seemingly wanted complete control over both team selection and transfer policy.

"While I am disappointed that we have been unable to reconcile some key philosophical differences, I'm relieved we now have clarity," Warburton told the club website.

"In my remaining time at the club we shall move heaven and earth to get the promotion that the players, fans and Matthew deserve and going forward, I wish the club every success in its ongoing adventure.

"I have enormous respect for Matthew and his investment in the club and he has the absolute right to run the club in the manner he deems most appropriate and beneficial."

Joining Warburton in leaving the club this summer will be assistant manager David Weir and current sporting director Frank McParland.

Since reports emerged of Warburton's exit last week, Brentford have lost two games in a row to drop out of the Championship playoffs.
