Alan McCormack: 'Brentford still a happy camp despite Mark Warburton speculation'

Alan McCormack says that every Brentford player is fully behind manager Mark Warburton after the recent rumours suggesting that he would leave the club.

Brentford defender Alan McCormack has insisted that there is still an upbeat mood at the club, despite the uncertainty over manager Mark Warburton's future at the club.

Reports surfaced last week that claimed that Warburton would be removed from his position in the summer, even though he guided the Bees to promotion last season and now has them challenging for a playoff place.

Since the rumours emerged, Brentford have lost both games in the Championship to fall out of the top six after a run of four wins in five games.

Irishman McCormack has said that everyone player at the club is fully behind Warburton, with Brentford expected to make a new statement on his future either today or tomorrow.

"It's out of our hands and nothing to do with us," the defender told Get West London. "We come in and train and everyone has a smile on your face. You get the odd text saying this is going on but you don't pay attention to it.

"It's the club's decision as to when they want to do it. Us as playing staff have to win the games and the rest is out of our control.

"Every player backs the manager 100%. He's done an incredible job taking us up from League One and we're doing very well in the Championship. The stats speak for themselves."

McCormack hasn't played since November because of an ankle injury, but was named on the bench for Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Charlton Athletic.
