Darren Bent eager for Brighton & Hove Albion stay

Darren Bent reveals that he wants to extend his loan with Championship strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion.

Darren Bent has revealed that he is eager to extend his loan with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 30-year-old striker is on loan at the Championship strugglers from Aston Villa until December 29.

Having scored two goals in four appearances for Brighton, Bent admits that he is keen to stay on the South Coast in order to get more first-team action.

"There is only so much someone can take. If I'm going to go back and sit on the bench I would rather stay," he told BBC Sport.

"I don't want to go back to Aston Villa if I am not going to play. No footballer enjoys sitting on the bench and playing two minutes here and there.

"For me at my age it's about playing. If I get to stay and play more games I'll be happy. Since I've been at Brighton it's been fantastic and I've loved every minute of it."

Brighton are currently four points adrift of safety in the Championship table.
