Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Brighton & Hove Albion Women and Liverpool Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Brighton are currently under the watch of interim boss Mikey Harris after Melissa Phillips was relieved of her duties earlier this month.

Harris began his tenure with a 2-0 defeat away to Manchester United, before he saw his side lose on penalties to Aston Villa in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The Brighton head coach would have been relieved to pick up his first win in last Sunday's FA Cup fifth-round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Emma Kullberg netting a hat-trick to help her side claim a 4-1 victory.

After setting up a quarter-final tie against Man United, Brighton will now turn their attention back to league matters, with the Seagulls currently sitting five points above the sole relegation spot.

Brighton will be keen to produce a strong defensive performance this weekend after conceding at least two goals in each of their seven home league games this season (W1, D2, L4).

Liverpool head into the weekend in fifth position after winning five, drawing four and losing four of their 13 WSL matches.

The Reds are still searching for their first league win of 2024 following defeats to Manchester City and Arsenal with a 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.

They did at least manage to pick up a win in last weekend's FA Cup meeting with London City Lionesses, as Sophia Roman Haug and Melissa Lawley grabbed a goal apiece to guide Liverpool to a 2-0 victory in the fifth-round tie.

The Reds will now turn their attention back to league matters, as they go in search of their third away victory of the WSL season.

They also have the chance to complete a league double over Brighton after cruising to a 4-1 victory in the reverse fixture in November.

Team News

The hosts are still expected to be without the services of Madison Haley, who has been out of action since November due to an injury issue.

Pauline Bremer has been unavailable for Brighton's last three matches, but the 27-year-old could be passed fit to feature in the matchday squad against the Reds.

Kullberg will come back into the side after coming off the bench to score a hat-trick last weekend, and the 32-year-old is likely to be joined in the starting lineup by Spanish midfielder Vicky Losada, who also made a substitute appearance against Wolves.

As for the visitors, they are still unable to call upon Taylor Hinds, but Teagan Micah will return to the squad having gone through concussion protocols.

Liverpool boss Matt Beard has also confirmed that midfielder Missy Bo Kearns will be available after missing out against London City Lionesses due to a calf issue.

Gemma Bonner and Emma Koivisto dropped down to the bench last weekend, but the pair are likely to come back into the starting XI for Sunday's contest.

Brighton & Hove Albion Women possible starting lineup:
Baggaley; Kullberg, Bergsvand, Carabali, Pattinson; Losada, Zigiotti Olme; Robinson, Pinto, Lee; Terland

Liverpool Women possible starting lineup:

We say: Brighton & Hove Albion Women 1-2 Liverpool Women

Although Liverpool have failed to win any of their last three league games, they have managed to win their previous two meetings with Brighton, and we think that they will do enough to claim a narrow victory.
