Steve Cotterill: 'I want Bristol City to be sexy'

Steve Cotterill says that his Bristol City side need to become one of the Championship's "sexy teams" if they are to attract players to Ashton Gate.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has said that he wants to make the club a more enticing prospect for players by turning them into one of the Championship's "sexy teams".

The Robins have struggled to add new players to their squad this summer, with Angers's Jonathan Kodjia and Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Fredericks the only permanent arrivals at Ashton Gate so far in the transfer window.

Cotterill admits that it has been difficult to attract signings, but hopes the style of football he has implemented at the club will help to enhance their reputation within the Championship.

Speaking to the club's official website, he said: "I don't want Bristol City being one of those clubs always languishing around the bottom half of the Championship.

"We have got to break that mould. I don't know how, but we have got to break it and we have got to be one of the sexy teams in [the league].

"Maybe that means playing good football for a year and other players thinking 'they are not bad, I would not mind playing for them'".

Cotterill, who took over as City boss in December 2013, has overseen his side secure just one win from their first four matches after being promoted to the Championship as League One champions in May.
