Jack Cork: 'Playing for Burnley in Europe would be highlight of career'

Jack Cork admits that the prospect of representing Burnley in European competition would be the highlight of his career.

Jack Cork has stressed that the prospect of representing Burnley in European competition would be the highlight of his career.

The Clarets will qualify for next season's Europa League if they can defeat Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday as a result of Manchester United and Chelsea meeting in the FA Cup final.

A seventh-placed finish for Burnley would mean entry in the second qualifying round on July 26, giving Sean Dyche's side three rounds to progress before entering the group stages.

"I think it would be the highlight [of my career] and I think it would for a lot of other people at the club as well," Cork told the Lancashire Telegraph.

"There have been a lot of good years at Burnley recently and I'm sure the fans are enjoying it.

"I would love to play in it because I've never done a European competition before. I would love to do that and I know all the other lads would love to have a good crack at it.

"We'd all like a good run and I'm sure the fans and everyone involved with the club would as well."

Burnley's last foray in Europe was in 1966–67, when they took part in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
