Struggling Burnley have two home games over the Christmas period

Burnley midfielder Jack Cork is hoping for some home comforts over the Christmas period as the Clarets look to get their season back on track.

Defeat at Arsenal on Saturday leaves Sean Dyche's side two points adrift of Premier League safety, with just one win since the start of October.

After qualifying for Europe following a campaign to remember last season, Burnley have struggled to match those standards this time around.

Only bottom club Fulham and newly-promoted Cardiff have shipped more than the 36 conceded by the Turf Moor outfit in their opening 18 games.

But, with Everton visiting on Boxing Day and West Ham travelling north four days later, Cork wants to start getting the results required to move clear of the relegation zone.

"We've played Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal in three of the last four games," he told Burnley's official website.
"In all of them we've put in a good performance and nearly got something from them.

"We've got a lot to be optimistic about and we're looking forward to Christmas and the New Year. We've got a good run of games coming up.

"It's Everton and West Ham next and it's great for us to be at home. To go back to Turf Moor and be in front of our home crowd is difficult for anyone coming here."

Burnley drew 1-1 at home to West Ham last season and doled out a 3-0 victory over Everton en route to finishing seventh.

Taking four points from those two games this year could be the starting point to a more modest achievement this time around.

"We can't be pleased with the league position because we have to win games. But there is life in what we are doing," Dyche said after the Arsenal defeat.

"We have played three of the top four sides in the division recently an certainly done enough, mentally and tactically to get something from the games."
