Zdenek Zeman rues missed chances in Empoli draw

Zdenek Zeman believes that Cagliari should have "finished the game off in the first half" after being held to a 1-1 draw by Empoli.

Cagliari manager Zdenek Zeman has admitted that his side had enough chances to beat Empoli in their Serie A match on Saturday evening.

A goal from Joao Pedro had looked like giving Zeman a win on his return to the dugout, but Matias Vecino struck deep into stoppage time to earn the visitors a 1-1 draw.

"I think the only regret is not having finished the game off on the first half," Zeman told Sky Sport Italia.

"We spent so much time in the second half playing against the wind that we couldn't create many chances.

"I always believe we will avoid relegation, the performance in the first half was good but we still need to improve physically."

Cagliari are currently 18th in the Serie A table.
