Half-Time Report: Tomas Rogic gives Celtic lead

A first-half goal from Tomas Rogic gives Celtic a 1-0 lead over Partick Thistle in the Scottish Premiership.

A goal from Tomas Rogic has put Celtic 1-0 up at half time in their Scottish Premiership match against Partick Thistle at Firhill Stadium.

The visitors came close to opening the scoring inside the first two minutes as Emilio Izaguirre crossed the ball in for Leigh Griffiths, but the striker's header was just high.

Griffiths came close again after 15 minutes when Rogic picked him out with a through-ball, but the finish was blocked, while Tomas Cerny gathered the ball to stop Griffiths getting another away.

The defending champions finally opened the scoring just before the half-hour mark when Callum McGregor burst down the left to cross the ball in for Rogic, leaving the midfielder to rifle the ball into the bottom corner.

Virgil van Dijk could have added a second for Ronny Deila's side before the break as he burst into the box after coming forward shortly before the break, but could only send his finish into the side-netting.

Partick started to see more of the ball in the final couple of minutes, but Callum Booth's cross was cleared before Steven Lawless could have an attempt on goal, while Nir Bitton cleared a Gary Miller through-ball moments before the break.
