Captain Scott Brown insists that he never had any intention of leaving Celtic.

Celtic captain Scott Brown has insisted that he has never considered leaving the club.

The 26-year-old's contract was due to expire at the end of the season, leading many to suggest that he was preparing to leave Parkhead on a free transfer.

However, Brown moved to put an end to the speculation on Saturday by signing a new deal until 2015.

When asked whether there was any doubt about him agreeing fresh terms with the club, Brown replied: "Not in my mind. Maybe other people's mind but I knew Celtic was the only club for me.

"I knew it was going to happen eventually. It was up to the club and my agent as well. I don't really take part in that."

Brown joined the Bhoys in 2007 from Hibernian.
