John Hartson: 'Neil Lennon may take time out'

John Hartson says that he would not be surprised if Neil Lennon did not jump straight into another management job.

Former Celtic striker John Hartson has said that departing manager Neil Lennon might look to take some time out of the game, rather than going straight into another position.

Lennon's former teammate said that while there were plenty of jobs that the Northern Irishman would be suitable for, he would not be surprised if he sits out for a while following a tough time off the pitch in Glasgow.

"There are several jobs out there, the likes of West Bromwich Albion, but whether or not Neil will go straight in I don't know," Hartson told BBC Sport. "It's not been an easy ride for him in Glasgow; he's had personal issues and abuse and threats over the years. Maybe he may want a bit of time out of the game.

"You've got people like Paul Lambert who is still at Aston Villa, Jackie McNamara who has done well at Dundee United and the favourite is Henrik Larsson, a cult figure with Celtic fans who is now managing in Sweden.

"Also Malky Mackay is out of a role. The fans take to the managers in Glasgow and it is a job that will create lots of interest."

Behind Larsson, David Moyes is the early second-favourite with the bookmakers.
