Rafael Benitez says that Chelsea were hard done by when they conceded a penalty to Rubin Kazan on Thursday.

Chelsea interim manager Rafael Benitez believes that the referee's decision to award a penalty against his side in the victory over Rubin Kazan on Thursday was "harsh".

Two goals from Fernando Torres and a strike from Victor Moses helped the Blues to a 3-1 win in the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final clash at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Londoners conceded an away goal from the penalty spot when John Terry was deemed guilty of handling the ball, but despite being annoyed at the decision, Benitez is pleased with his side's performance.

"I am happy with the scoreline but not 100% happy, because we conceded a goal when we were in control of the game," said Benitez.

"It was a shame that we were a little relaxed and that we conceded that goal, but I think the penalty was harsh."
