Thomas Tuchel breaks Premier League record with Chelsea win against Everton

Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel becomes the first Premier League manager to see his side keep a clean sheet in each of his first five home games with a 2-0 win against Everton.

Chelsea's Thomas Tuchel became the first Premier League manager in history to see his side keep a clean sheet in each of his first five home games in the competition, courtesy of a 2-0 victory against Everton on Monday night.

Kai Havertz was involved in both goals as his first-half strike inside the box was turned in for an own goal by Ben Godfrey, before the German won a second-half penalty, which Jorginho converted, to maintain Tuchel's unbeaten record as Blues boss.

Chelsea are now unbeaten in their past 26 Premier League matches at Stamford Bridge against Everton – only against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur between 1990 and 2016 have the Blues had a longer unbeaten home run in top-flight history.

Tuchel's men are now inside the top four, two points clear of West Ham United – who beat Leeds United in the same evening – although the Hammers do have a game in hand.

Chelsea now turn their attention to their next Premier League match against Leeds on Saturday, before their Champions League second leg encounter with Atletico Madrid the following Wednesday.
