Gary Cahill: "The lads are devastated"

Gary Cahill says that Chelsea "have not had the rub of the green" but they are 'working hard' after their 2-1 defeat to West Ham United.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill has spoken about the mood in the dressing room after his side's 2-1 defeat to West Ham United this afternoon.

Andy Carroll scored 10 minutes from time to consign 10-man Chelsea to defeat, in a result that is bound to heap pressure on manager Jose Mourinho.

"The mood in the dressing room is not great, like you would imagine when you lose games. Last season we weren't used to it. The lads are devastated.

"You are left scratching your head sometimes. In the first half the Cesc Fabregas goal could have been given and we had the goal that was nearly over the line. That sums up the way we are going.

"And then we have got [Nemanja Matic's] sending off. Originally we played on, we thought the referee had played on. Maybe the assistant called it back, I'm not sure sure what's happened there. We have not had the rub of the green but we are not feeling sorry for ourselves. We have to work hard to turn this round."

The result sees Chelsea drop down to 15th in the league, with just 11 points from 10 games.
